Linden news - O.P. C. Evans, one of our oldest and best citizens, passed to the higher life on Monday. The remains were buried Wednesday. All sympathize with the family. A good man is gone, brilliant life is left behind. He was a man of more than usual intellectual and business qualities, also the friend of all the poor, need and unfortunate of the human family - kbz

The death of the venerable O. P. C. Evans, living near Romney, occurred at 1 o’clock Monday morning, a paralytic stroke being the cause. He was one of the oldest and best known men in the county and was a county commissioner when the present jail was built. Mr. Evans was about 80 years old and was known to all of the older citizens of the city and county. He has been a resident of Tippecanoe County since 1845 and was a native of Maryland. His funeral occurred Wednesday at the Methodist Church in Romney.
